About Ward & McKenzie Small Craft Consulting

Ward & McKenzie are professional and independent yacht consultants, surveyors, legal advisors and project consultants providing a comprehensive service to yacht buyers and owners of yachts – large and small, commercial and private. Included are accredited experts who can give expert evidence in court.

Ward & McKenzie was established in 1997 by Sir Ian Collett and Clive Ward who has since retired.

The Ward & McKenzie head office is in Woodbridge Suffolk. We also have a representative office in Palma de Mallorca. We have associate offices world wide. Note: All the surveyors we represent as agents are capable of undertaking the surveys outlined on our site. They all carry their own insurances.

Sir Ian Collett, Bt.
Director
Ian qualified and worked as a solicitor in the marine field prior to the formation of Ward & McKenzie with Clive Ward 17 years ago. Clive has since retired. Whilst W&M is not a law firm Ian continues to adopt the same professional approach. He specialises in the legal/contractual  aspect of yacht purchase and ownership. He has particular experience in VAT issues, the Malta Yacht Leasing Scheme which he helped to establish in 2006 and ownership structures.

Chris Nicolle
Director and Principal Surveyor
Prior to joining forces with Ward & McKenzie group as a Director and Principal in house surveyor, Chris worked for John Winterbotham and Partners. He is now heading the Ward & McKenzie survey division and coordinating with our out port surveyors, undertaking in house surveys and yacht consultancy work. Chris also undertakes Damage Assessment Surveys on behalf of a number of insurers and regularly acts on our behalf when we are appointed Experts in New Build and Refit disputes.

Liz Girling
Office Manager
Liz joined Ward & McKenzie 17 years ago so has been involved with the growth of the company during that time. Over the years she has come to know the clients very well, which means she can give a very personal service. As clients have developed over the years, she has helped them with the purchase and registration of larger yachts. Liz co-ordinates surveys, yacht consultancy and deals with the registration of vessels in the UK, Red Ensign and further afield, e.g. BVI, Cayman, and Marshall Islands.

Paula Rhodes

Accounts

Paula joined us earlier this year and is proving a very valuable member of the team. She deals with the accounting/book-keeping aspect of the business. She keeps us all in check!

A Highly Experienced Surveyor, Engineer and Captain with over 30 years experience within the Marine Industry. Sixteen years representing Ward & McKenzie in the Balearic Islands and developing our Western Mediterranean Marine Business for all types of yachts, both Pleasure and Commercial.
